On Contractual appointment for Wildlife Management Operations in Valmiki Tiger
Reserve, Bihar
1. Job profile:
To provide veterinary services in rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals strayed out of their natural habitats or treatment and care (health management) of injured or diseased wild animals whether in natural habitats or outside or in captivity requiring such special aids. The incumbent will have to be part of the rescue team of the Department, set-up for this purpose, on such operations in the Valmiki Tiger Reserve under the guidance and supervision of concerned officials of the Department and lead the veterinary functions. In such operations, the Veterinarian will also be responsible for the task of capture/ restraining / tranquilisation (by chemical drugs and other means) of certain wild animals as required as per the applicable scientific processes and will have to provide post restraining / tranquilisation procedures. The Veterinarian will also be required to provide assistance for necropsy / post-mortem procedures in case of casualty of wild animals during the incidents in context. He/she will be under the control of Deputy Directors, Valmiki Tiger Reserve along with the Wild Animal Rescue Team. Besides their main responsibility in the rescue and rehabilitation operations, the Veterinarians will also get opportunities to be associated with the veterinary service related functions in wildlife protection, monitoring and management in the Valmiki Tiger Reserve. The headquarters of the Veterinarian will be fixed by the Field Director in any of the Forest Ranges of Valmiki Tiger Reserve, West Champaran. However the area of operations will be the whole area of Valmiki Tiger Reserve and if required, in special cases, his services may be taken in other Districts of the State of Bihar.
2. Nationality: The candidate should be an Indian national.
3. Qualifications and Experience:
a) Educational Qualification: The candidate should have B.V.Sc. degree from a recognised institution.
b) Experience: Minimum experience of 2 years after obtaining the B.V.Sc. degree in handling wildlife; preference will be given for experience/ expertise/specialization in veterinary services for wildlife in any of the recognized zoo / zoo safari / wildlife rescue centre or wildlife sanctuary / national park;
4. Age: Maximum 40 (forty) years on the last date of submission of application, which may be relaxed in case of persons having more experience in handling wildlife.
5. Tenure of appointment: i) Initially, the tenure of appointment will be for one year which may be extended for further periods based upon the satisfactory performance by the appointing authority. ii) The nature of appointment will be temporary and on contractual basis which can be terminated by either side with a notice period of 2 months; further the appointment will not accrue any kind of right to appointment on a regular post in government service or any right to preferential consideration for any such appointments in future.
6. Remuneration and other facilities:
a) Remuneration: Rs. 65000/- (Rs. Sixty five thousands only) consolidated honorarium per month which will be increased as per the Animal Husbandry, Fishery Department, Government of Bihar circular issued from time to time and fulfilment to satisfactory service of the candidate.
b) During rescue operations transport, accommodation and boarding facilities will be provided by the Department or the expenses thereon will be borne by the Department.
c) Free accommodation may be provided in the headquarter/field , in Valmiki Tiger Reserve depending upon availability of such accommodation.
7. Prevalent reservation policy of the State Government will be followed in this contractual employment also. II.
